Choir Trip Information
The choir will be going to Washington, D.C. from Friday, April 24, 2020 to Tuesday, April 28, 2020. The tour is being arranged by Education Tours, Inc and the festival the choir we will be participating in is with Coda Concerts. The students will be performing in the National Cathedral. They will also rehearse with a word-class clinician in a mass Coda Chorus to perform at the National Cathedral. All of the choirs will premiere a commissioned work and work with the composer in preparing that work. The BHS Choirs will have 20 minutes of solo adjudicated stage time at the National Cathedral Performance. The other things we will see on the trip include:
- Arlington National Cemetery
- National Monuments
- US Capitol
- Ford's Theatre - a show and tour
- Smithsonian Museums
- National Archives
- Maybe the White House (you do not know for sure until four weeks prior)
Itinerary - this is tentative and may change as we get closer
The plan is to fly to Washington, D.C. and stay 4 nights and 5 days. Students will miss 3 days of class, but these will count as attendance days because they are on a school trip. The cost is estimated to be $1,600 per student. This cost is still variable depending on the number of students and parents going on the trip. Please see the chart below.
Students in Concert Choir, Belton Singers, and Bella Voce will be invited to go on the trip. The trip will be paid for by student fundraising and payments. There will be many fundraising opportunities. These are detailed below.
Mr. Stuck, Mrs. Sechrest, and another faculty member will be chaperones on the trip. Parents may also join the trip as chaperones. I would like to have 10:1 ratio of students to chaperones. Chaperones will be two to a room at the student price. Parents may choose to have a single room at an additional cost.
